Insurance is important. Believe me, I know first-hand. In 2007, my family and I lost our home and everything we owned in a devastating wildfire. State Farm was there to help us get back on our feet. Now, I’m proud to help customers with their insurance coverage as a local State Farm agent here in Chico, CA. I work with people from around Northern California, including Durham, Orland, Oroville, Paradise, Forest Ranch, Corning and Hamilton City.

I’m a second-generation State Farm employee—my dad believed wholeheartedly in this company’s good neighbor mission, and I’m honored to continue that tradition. I opened my agency in 2014 to help people understand their unique needs and find the right policies to cover them. My goal as your agent is to make sure there are no surprises! My friendly, dedicated team is always here to answer questions and offer support throughout the process.

My Northern California roots are deep—I grew up in the Bay Area, graduated from Chico State, and spent almost a decade in the technology industry before shifting gears to State Farm. I’m also a loving husband and father of two, and you can usually find me running back and forth from practices and games, or out on a family hike in Bidwell Park.

Whether you’re relocating to the area or are a lifelong resident, let’s work together on a coverage plan that fits your life. My office can help with auto insurance, motorhome insurance, ATV/UTV insurance, motorcycle insurance, health insurance, life insurance and much more.

If you would like an insurance quote, please call/text or stop by our office. My team and I are ready to help with all of your insurance and financial needs.

Life insurance can feel complicated and overwhelming, but at its core, it's a pretty simple way to plan for the financial future of the people you love. Learning what life insurance is now can help you make informed decisions about the right ways to keep your family protected.

Having emergency kit supplies prepared may give you the resources you and your family need to stay safe:

A catastrophe or emergency could leave you without power and/or help for several days, so take the steps to be prepared with an emergency kit. The basics of any emergency kit should include water and food.

The American Red Cross recommends one gallon of water per person, per day and recommends a three-day supply for evacuations a two-week supply for sheltering at home.

Non-perishable, easy-to-prepare foods that your family is willing to eat should go into your kit. When preparing a kit, consider:

  • Canned meats, fruits and vegetables

  • Pasteurized milk and fruit juices

  • Protein or fruit bars

  • Dry cereal or granola

  • Peanut butter

  • Dried fruit

  • High energy food like canned lentils, canned beans or crackers

  • Comfort foods

Additional items for a basic survival kit include:

  • A first-aid kit

  • Medications including a seven-day supply of all prescription medication everyone in the household may need.

  • Equipment such as a battery-powered radio, flashlight, extra batteries, can opener, duct tape, a whistle, cellphone chargers, extra cash, blankets or sleeping bags.

  • Documents can also be vital to have in an emergency including copies of personal documents such as medication lists and pertinent medical information, proof of address, passports or other forms of ID and copies of birth certificates and insurance policies.

Having a good, basic home emergency kit may help make dealing with severe storms and emergencies a little easier.

The absolute worst time to learn how your insurance works is during a claim-- when you don’t have the option to make changes. Yet that is exactly what happens to most of us. In 2007, I lost my home in a wildfire and got to learn firsthand what is covered and what is not under my policy. The realty of a large claim can hit hard financially and emotionally for you and your family. That’s why we work hard to simplify the world of Insurance and Financial Services so that there are never any surprises when a claim occurs.

Our job is not to push you into a policy, but to have a conversation to make sure what we are recommending makes sense and is the right fit for you, your family and your budget. The Chris Grettum State Farm team is dedicated to making sure your Auto insurance, Motorhome insurance, Motorcycle insurance, Life insurance, ATV/UTV insurance and Financial Service needs are covered in Butte and Glenn Counties including: Chico, Paradise, Oroville, Durham, Orland, Corning and Hamilton City.
